Quirin Bovy: “Dogs don’t make cats”

Ride on the old Spa-Francorchamps track, in a Ford Mustang Mach 1, to evoke the life and career of the man who was category winner at the 24 Hours of Spa in 1989... the same year his daughter was born, herself victorious in the Gold Cup on the Belgian double clock tower in 2022.

Quirin, it’s a magnificent Ford Mustang that you are presenting to us today! I have to tell you that this is one of my favorite cars...

(Laughs) I'm 75 years old, I've always had crazy projects in the automobile industry. I was a little bored in my retirement and some friends suggested that I do something with slightly original cars, in the style of a track debut. I had three icons: the Mustang, the Corvette and theAlpine. Three legends in the history of motorsport. I went to the Ford people and explained to them what we wanted to do and started the project of working with Mustangs. At first, I hesitated with the Bullitt, but the Mach 1 is the most powerful model ever sold by the official network. The three examples we own are equipped with the Performance package developed by Ford for circuit driving. It's a breathtaking car, which has unbeatable value for money, except in France because of the €60 penalty which doubles its purchase price. I only use professional drivers during my events: Eric van de Poele and Stéphane Lémeret. They are blown away by the car's performance.

How can people register for these events?

We have a website called Mustanx. The history of this name is quite funny. When we created the project, the name was “Mustang The Experience”, but that was a bit long for a logo. So I suggested Mustanx. We filed it, and when we did our first demonstration with Ford Europe, a courier
