Although he is still active in motorsport, endurance and other more confidential disciplines, Nikita Mazepin wants to retrain in other sports... and in particular in boxing, where he hopes to have his first fight in 2025.

Nikita Mazepin's strange career change, from F1 to the boxing ring

Three years after his forced departure from the Formula 1, Nikita mazepin continues to make its way. If the Russian has (definitely) gave up F1 last October, although the chances of seeing him again in the premier category were already almost zero since 2022, he nevertheless continues to keep himself busy through various sports, automotive or not. Engaged in ALMS in 2024 with 99 Racing, recently seen on the Emirates side for the 24 Hours of Dubai, the ex-driver Haas explores new avenues outside of motorsports. His new craze? Becoming a “hybrid athlete,” capable of excelling in multiple disciplines. And one of them is… boxing.

Mazepin ready to fight… literally

Indeed, Nikita Mazepin – a big fan of combat sports and MMA in particular – hopes to have his first boxing match by the end of 2025.. “This year I plan to participate in five competitions in different sports. The boxing match will take place in the fall of 2025 and I hope everything goes well., did he declare from the Russian news agency Tass, without closing the door to motorsport. We are working hard to make this boxing fight happen. But this is not the only challenge I have set myself: I will also take part in superbike events, in the Russian championship of rally-raid and circuit races.

The 25-year-old Russian driver – or rather the neo-boxer – has notably trained with Nikolay Kaushansky, MMA world champion, and has attended several professional fights in recent months to prepare for this new challenge outside the paddocks. "This will probably be my biggest challenge of the year", said Nikita Mazepin, ready to put on his gloves and enter the ring. Who knows, maybe he will be better at throwing punches than turning a steering wheel…
