The first driver to benefit from the change in World regulations Rallycross (World RX) made himself known. Seeing that thermal Supercars were once again accepted in the company of electric RX1e, the Frenchman Anthony Pelfrene announced his arrival at the highest level of the discipline in 2024.

The 37-year-old driver, with a first season in the 2023 French Championship finishing in third place with DA Racing (4 podiums, 1 victory), had initially planned to compete in Euro RX1 in 2024.

“When the opportunity presented itself to race in World RX, it was impossible for me to refuse it,” he admits. There is nothing better in rallycross – it is the absolute pinnacle of this sport – and this Battle of Technologies between electric and thermal really excites me. I think the show will be fantastic.

Last year, I had the chance to compete against Davy Jeanney, Sébastien Loeb and Yury Belevskiy in the French Championship. They've all been at the forefront of the world championships, so it was good to compete against them and I was very encouraged by my pace.

Racing against the best is absolutely the best way to learn and improve. We also had good times in Euro RX1 at Montalegre and just missed out on the final against many much more experienced riders at this level. »

In order to prepare for the opening of the season (date and location unknown at this time), Anthony Pelfrene will… play video games. “I'm aware that most of the tracks will be new to me, but I've always tended to adapt quite quickly – and in any case, I make sure to do plenty of practice on the DiRT Rally 2.0 game with my son !

La Peugeot is virtually identical to the one Jānis Baumanis rode to finish second overall in each of the last two years of the European Championship, so I have no concerns about that and I'm sure we'll be right in the mix. My goal is to reach the final as often as possible and to fight for the podium whenever possible. »
