You will have to be patient to witness the launch of the 2022 season of the World Championship of rallycross (WorldRX). Indeed, the major RX discipline will not begin before the beginning of July in Höljes (Sweden, July 2-3)! This will be an opportunity for the teams to fine-tune the new electric cars which will replace the thermal Supercars.

The absence of France from the calendar is the other major fact of the announcements revealed by the FIA World Council this Wednesday, December 15. Indeed, Lohéac will refocus on the French Championship from September 2 to 4.

Furthermore, the European events (Euro RX) will now be contested separately from World RX. Here again, France is conspicuous by its absence even if a circuit yet to be confirmed must be found on the weekend of June 18-19.

Absent since the coronavirus pandemic, the Cape Town circuit (South Africa) is scheduled as the World RX final on an unknown date. For the rest, the Nürburgring has been brought forward to the end of July, while a Scandinavian tour will take the drivers to Hell (Norway, absent since 2019) and Riga (Latvia). Montalegre (Portugal) will precede Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium).

Arne Dirks, Executive Director of Rallycross Promoter GmbH in charge of World RX, assures that “A lot of hard work has gone into developing what we believe is a program that blends the best of the sport, from much-loved traditional rallycross tracks to iconic, world-renowned motorsport venues – and we are I'm sure everyone will welcome the prospect of returning to South Africa for the season finale.

Likewise, we hope competitors and fans enjoy the prospect of standalone Euro RX events, which will kick off the season ahead of the start of the exciting new electric era of World RX. This promises to be another spectacular season. »
