Sébastien’s 7th place Loeb in the first round was not really representative of the level of the nine-time World Champion WRC and his Lancia Delta Evo RX1e hatched by the Special ONE Racing team and prepared by GCK Performance. The Frenchman set the record straight by taking 3rd place in the second round and this evening is in fifth position in the general classification after the first day of racing.
In the World Championship of Rallycross, the weekends follow one another and are similar for the ogre Johan Kristoffersson who launched his season as he ended that of 2022. Not only did the reigning champion finish the first day of racing in the lead, but Kristoffersson Motorsport achieves a double with second place for the Volkswagen RX1e of his teammate Ole Christian Veiby. Behind, Niclas Grönholm is at the foot of the podium ahead of Timmy Hansen and Loeb.
If Guerlain Chicherit was less efficient than his illustrious teammate, the electric Lancias proved to have their place within the turbulent peloton. We can bet that with a little development the machines with retrofit livery and mechanics should be able to come and play at the forefront later in the season. For this first Portuguese weekend it will unfortunately be difficult, but who knows... With Sébastien Loeb we are never short of a surprise!
