World RX: Electric rallycross begins at Hell

In 2021, the pandemic got the better of the switch to electric World RX. Having fallen a little further behind, the FIA series will finally begin this weekend. Back on the calendar after three years of absence, the Lånkebanen circuit in Hell in Norway hosts the first round (August 13-14) and will therefore see the arrival of the new cars. “ To be honest, I feel a bit like a kid at Christmas, waiting to see these revolutionary World RX electric cars race for the first time, explains Arne Dirks, executive director of Rallycross Promoter GmbH. Since taking over as championship promoter, we have been very clear about our commitment to a more sustainable future and have worked tirelessly to reach this day. This is a completely new start for World RX, which will disrupt and transform the motorsport landscape by demonstrating the exceptional potential of this pioneering new technology. This is the start of what, I have absolutely no doubt, will be an incredible adventure for this great sport. » There should be a spectacle on the Trondelag track since the cars will lose none of their bestiality with the arrival of the electric motor. They develop 500 kW, the equivalent of 680 hp and 880 Nm of torque. This allows them to propel themselves at 100 km/h faster than a F1 ! Norway is the first meeting of a calendar which includes 5 others, the rounds of which will take place according to the usual breakdown (practice session, qualifying and final). The pinnacle of the discipline, World RX welcomes the best among the main contenders.

Johan Kristoffersson is one of the favorites for World RX 2022

At the controls of his Polo now RX1e, Johan Kristoffersson is aiming for a 5e world crown, but there are several who want to trip the great Swede. Champion in 2019, Timmy Hansen wants to double the stakes within the Hansen World RX Team where his brother Kevin also has arguments. Very efficient last year, Niclas Grönholm has his say while Ole Christian Veiby who abandoned the rally returns to rallycross a little less than 7 years after its last appearance. The first female to compete for the entire season, Klara Andersson is Grönholm's teammate and her performances will be one to watch. In addition to the World RX which is the highlight of the show, several other series are present with the RX2e, the Euro RX1 and the Euro RX3. It is this setting that the legendary skier Aksel Lund Svindal and the local public favorite Andreas Bakkerud will evolve.

Klara Andersson will be Niclas Grönholm's teammate throughout the season
