World RX Riga 1 – Kristoffersson as strategist

For this first double header of the season in World RX, the organizers have adapted the regulations by going from three to two qualifying rounds before the “progression race” and the final phases. Enough to delight pilots who are already skeptical about this new regulation!

Winner of the Super Pole, the four-time World Champion Rallycross won Q1 before settling for a 5th time in the last qualifying. More in the “race progression” before winning in the semi-final to position himself in pole position for the final, Kristoffersson was surprised at the start.

The driver of the Polo RX1e shifted his strategy and plunged from the start in the Joker Tour before catching up with his rivals lap after lap to finally cross the finish line with more than 2 seconds ahead of Kevin Hansen. Third behind his brother, Timmy Hansen is now 11 points behind Kristoffersson in the provisional World RX standings.

The two brothers entered at the wheel of Team Hansen's 208 family cars must reverse the trend tomorrow for Race 2.
