Carlos Sainz is the new provisional leader of Rally of Morocco after having signed the scratch in the Boucle de Draa, the second stage of the event. The pilot of the new Peugeot 2008 DKR16 completed the 224km in 2h13'48, 1'49 ahead of Nasser Al-Attiyah (Mini). The Qatari is 1'24 behind the double world champion WRC in the general classification.
Sébastien Loeb is out of play for the first places following his turbo problem encountered on his 2008 DKR2015+ during the first stage, but the Alsatian found the right pace by signing the sixth provisional time 10'30 behind his teammate.
Yazeed Al-Rajhi (Toyota), first leader of the Rally of Morocco, finished just ahead of the nine-time WRC world champion. The Saudi slipped to third place eight minutes from the lead, preceding Vladimir Vasilyev (Toyota), Eric van Loon (Mini) and Giniel de Villiers (Toyota).
