The Prologue of the 45th edition of the Dakar almost counted for nothing. Along the 13 km along the Red Sea, this Saturday, December 31, Sébastien Loeb and Fabian Lurquin (Bahrain Raid Xtreme) dropped the scratch time for a symbolic second for the benefit of Mattias Ekström and Emil Bergkvist (Audi).

No problem, they have nearly 4 km left to erase this relative defeat. “Obviously, I know that this Prologue is not representative of what awaits us in the next two weeks”, declared the nine-time world rally champion (WRC) and vice-world champion of rally-raid (W2RC) upon his return to the Sea Camp bivouac.

“The special went well. I tried to do it like the WRC, because the course really looked like a rally. I wanted to be efficient, and that apparently helped. It's a good start to the Dakar, it's a good thing to start the event in this way. »

Sébastien Loeb has no negative criticism to make about his British 4×4, built by Prodrive. “The Hunter T1+ behaves well, it gave us satisfaction during testing the previous days. I am confident that we can achieve great things on this Dakar. »
