Dakar 2024 – Ranking Stage 4:

General classification :

  • The fourth stage of Dakar Rally 2024 was also the second half of the marathon stage decided by the organizers. In order to spare the men and the mechanics, the special on Tuesday January 9 only consisted of 299 km between and Al Hofuf (Saudi Arabia).
  • At the cost of a great fight against Toyota by Yazeed Al-Rajhi and Timo Gottschalk, Sébastien Loeb and Fabian Lurquin (Bahrain Raid Xtreme) won this stage by barely 1 minute! The Alsatian is reassured with this 24th success on the rally-raid.
  • In the general ranking, it’s the status quo or almost. Al-Rajhi remains leader with 4 minutes ahead of Carlos Sainz (Audi) and 11 minutes on Nasser Al-Attiyah (Prodrive). Sébastien Loeb gained one place and moved to 6th just ahead of the leader of the two-wheel drive classification, Mathieu Serradori (SRT).
  • The big loser of the day is Seth Quintero (Toyota). The American rookie, W2RC world champion in T3, is waiting for his assistance truck at km 68. His Hilux T1+ has broken a mechanical element which cannot be repaired by the crew he forms with the German Dennis Zenz. He lost more than 2h30.
  • Bad day also for Romain Dumas and Max Delfino (Toyota). The Rebellion team pair was well on their way to a magnificent stage as a private team, and were in the top 5 on all the way-points. Unfortunately, 30 km from the goal, they stopped for an undetermined cause and lost several hours
  • Winners on Monday, Lucas Moraes and Armand Monleon (Toyota) fell back because of their position as openers. The Brazilian driver lost around ten minutes.
