In 2022, “Monsieur Dakar” had given up on his ambitions in the general classification before even packing his bags for Saudi Arabia. The record holder for victories (6 on a motorcycle and 8 on a car) knew only too well the youth of the hybrid project, not to mention the inexperience of the men and women of Audi Sport in this discipline.
