When the saga returns to theaters Mad Max in 2015, with Fury road, the cars and trucks bit the sand in thick plumes of black smoke. For the prequel, Furious , due in theaters within two years, director George Miller would be well advised to remove these vulgar jaw harps and stick in more fashionable devices. Indeed, the Dakar, admittedly a more refined version of desert races, has begun a new chapter in its forty-year history. Via its initiative called “Dakar Future”, the organizer Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) is drawing up an energy transition plan, both in terms of alternative engines and with the objective of limiting emissions linked to the organization of the rally. As Mathieu Parent, actor in the Gen-Z initiative with pilot Cyril Despres, explains, “ for 20 years, we have had small developments, with the appearance of diesel, then the return of two-wheel drive buggies, but what is being prepared is something else. It's a revolution. » A turnaround which will aim to ban in 2026 all polluting vehicles in the category of cars allocated to advanced crews. Before 2030, cars and trucks, including enthusiasts, emit only low CO2 emissions.
