At Bahrain Raid Xtreme (BRX) we prefer to work discreetly. The last public appearance of the Thunder built by Prodrive was at Baja Aragon in July, where Sébastien Loeb and Fabian Lurquin failed narrowly against Nasser Al-Attiyah and Mathieu Baumel (Toyota).
Converted to version T1+ (lanes widened by 30 centimeters, 37-inch tires compared to 32 and increased suspension travel of 70 millimeters), the English 4×4 is conducting tests in the United Arab Emirates and does not intend to start any race between now and the Dakar (January 2-14 2022).
We're running a 🚗🚗🚗 car team at the 8,375km @dakar in January. @SebastienLoeb & @NaniRoma will be joined by @terranovaorly. All 3 will compete in the new sustainably-fuelled 🌿🌿 Prodrive Hunter T1+# Dakar2022 @Dakarinsaudi_en pic.twitter.com/gFzUi4h09L

Indeed, BRX will skip the Ha'il Rally (Saudi Arabia) scheduled for early December, due to the low mileage of certain stages (249 km on the third day, 148 km on the fourth day, for a total of 969 km) . Instead, the British team will continue training sessions on the sly in Dubai with the three crews: Loeb-Lurquin, Roma-Haro and newcomers Terranova-Oliveras.
“I have a very good feeling in the new car, assures the nine-time world rally champion (WRC). We tested it in all the different conditions we expect to see on the Dakar. With the new wider tires we were able to maintain our speed in the rough and rocky sections with much less risk of punctures. Fabian and I have several more days of testing soon where we will spend a lot of time focusing on navigation, as this will be very important again in Saudi Arabia. »
