For several weeks, rumors, sometimes alarming, have been circulating about the health of Jochen Mass. The winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1989 with Sauber-Mercedes, and author of 105 departures in Formula 1, was actually hospitalized for "an emergency", as indicated by his entourage in a message published on social networks, Friday March 28.

"We would like to announce that Jochen Mass is currently recovering from emergency medical surgery. Although Jochen's condition is stable, he will be stepping back from any public appearances in the future as he focuses on his recovery.

The Family (by Jochen Mass) expresses its deep appreciation for the significant number of messages of support and asks that the right to privacy be respected during this period. We wish Jochen a speedy recovery.
