Fans of prototypes from Audi's legacy programs now have the opportunity to realize their unique dreams under the auspices of the four rings. By acquiring an original chassis, they not only become owners, but also participants in one of the most iconic periods of Audi Sport.
« We transform these chassis, combined with original reconditioned parts, into racing cars, respecting strict standards and with exceptional know-how. ", says Rolf Michl, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH. In some cases, engineers from that era are even involved in current projects. The Audi R18 e-tron quattro and the RS 5 DTM are among the fastest racing cars ever built by Audi. Our customers can expect not only highly sought-after racing vehicles, but also an intense driving experience. They join a select group, benefit from our motorsport expertise, and receive tailor-made support. » These vehicles have allowed Audi to win victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and DTM titles. The winning models from this era are preserved in the Audi AG collection – maintained, repaired and used at events by Audi Tradition.
The first two models were presented to enthusiasts at an exclusive event in Neuburg an der Donau on April 2. The hand-picked guests were able to discover two legendary cars: chassis 107 of the RS 5 DTM and chassis 207 of theAudi R18 e-tron quattro. With the latter, Romain Dumas, Loïc duval and Marc Gené took the first victory for the new RP2 generation in the World Championship.Endurance FIA WEC at Spa-Francorchamps in 2012. The RS 5 DTM chassis also achieved victory in 2015 with Timo Scheider in the DTM final at Hockenheim.
The presentation at Audi Sport headquarters marks the launch of the commercial launch of these rare vehicles. This project will be presented to an audience of specialists at several events: from May 9 to 11 at the Jim Clark Revival in Hockenheim (Germany), from July 3 to 6 at Le Mans Classic (France), and from July 10 to 13 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (United Kingdom).
The first model will be delivered to its owner this summer, but this sale is by no means the end of the Audi Sport service. On the contrary, it inaugurates a comprehensive support package: regular technical inspections, repairs, spare parts, and advice from veteran engineers complete the Audi Sport offering. Audi Sport also provides support at events. With the sale of a limited number of racing prototypes from the LMP1 and DTM Class 1 eras, Audi Sport is offering an exclusive clientele exceptional pieces from an unforgettable era of motorsport.
