It will undoubtedly be one of the most popular cars in the auction organized by RM Sotheby's on the sidelines of the Monterey Car Week at Laguna Seca Raceway this weekend. This is the McLaren MP4-21, used during the 2006 season of F1, the last drawn by Adrian Newey before going to Red Bull the same year.

In addition, it is the car avec laquelle Lewis Hamilton made his first drive in Formula 1 in the fall of 2006 before joining the following campaign. This 21A-03 chassis was used by Juan Pablo Montoya in the first three Grands Prix of the season, finishing 5th, 4th respectively and forced to retire in Bahrain, Malaysia and Australia. The year was difficult for the Woking team, which ended without a single victory. The Colombian even left during the campaign before being replaced by Pedro de la Rosa. Kimi Räikkönen finished 5th in the championship before heading to Ferrari.

Equipped with naturally aspirated V8 Mercedes-Benz FO108S 2,4 liter 750 hp, this McLaren MP4-21 was fully restored by McLaren Racing Heritage in 2019 and now has a certificate of authenticity. Its owner is asking for 2,4 million dollars, or a little less than 2,2 million euros.
