In almost half a century of existence, Rétromobile has changed a lot. The spare parts and other objects related to automobile history exchange has long since been transformed into a classic car show at Paris Expo, located at the Porte de Versailles, south of the capital. But it has also been some time since motorsport found its place in the aisles of the show. First highlighted by prestigious sellers or exhibitors, the competition was then favored by institutions, such as the Musée des 24 Hours of Le Mans, which had brought together a selection of vehicles fromEndurance to celebrate the centenary of the event in 2023.
Seeing the appetite of the public who came in large numbers (more than 130 people counted last year), the organizers of Rétromobile, Comexposium, decided to give a greater place to motorsport. An exhibition on the Paris-Dakar had met with great success in 000 and confirmed the validity of this positioning. Also, on the occasion of the 2024e edition, scheduled for February 5 to 9, Rétromobile has seen big, with an exhibition entitled “ La Formula 1 tricolor from the 1960s to the present day ". On an area of 600 m2, located in pavilion 2, no fewer than 16 Formula 1 single-seaters will be gathered! All will have in common that they are linked to France by the nationality of their driver, their engine or their chassis.
Through the cars presented, visitors will discover the role of France in the history of Formula 1. The exhibition will offer a journey to the heart of six decades of innovation and competition, from the Constructors' Champion Matra MS 80 to theAlpine A524 piloted by Pierre Gasly and podium finisher in Brazil last year.
In order to better understand France's place in F1, and these exceptional cars, a large stage will be installed at the heart of the exhibition. It will serve as a meeting place to listen to stories, anecdotes and other interviews with personalities linked to F1. These include Olivier Panis, with his 158 Grand Prix starts; Jacques Laffite, winner of six races or Jean Alesi, who has 201 Formula 1 starts, Jean-Éric Vergne, 58 Formula 1 starts and current double champion of Formula E, Rene Arnoux, 7 times winner in Formula 1 and many others that will be announced in the days leading up to the show.
