Toyota answer to Ferrari at Le Mans. After Robert Kubica in the 499P n°83 of the AF Corse team at the start of the day, it is Brendon Hartley who was the fastest at the wheel of the GR010 Hybrid No. 8 this Sunday afternoon during the Test Day. The New Zealander set the reference time of the day in 3:26.246. He was 0.531 seconds ahead of the Ferrari No. 51, winner in 2023. Very nice rise in power ofAlpine which rises to third place with the n°36 of Mick Schumacher, Paul-Loup Chatin and Frédéric Makowiecki, at 1.067 seconds.

Alpine responds, Peugeot lagging behind

The first Porsche finished the session just off the podium, with the No. 6 car of Kévin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor and Matt Campbell, 1.110 seconds off the best time. The No. 83 car of the AF Corse team completed the top 5, 1.111 seconds behind. Further down the rankings, the first BMW set the eighth fastest time, 1.308 seconds off the leader. This same prototype did not finish the day due to a mechanical problem. The first Cadillac, the No. 12 car of the Hertz Team JOTA team, was ninth, ahead of the second Alpine. On the side of Peugeot , both cars did no better than 19th and 21st places, just behind the Aston Martin Valkyrie (18th and 20th).

Even though it is repeated every year that the times of the test day are not significant for the hierarchy in the race, it still seems that the gaps are very narrow between Hypercars, only Peugeot and Aston do not seem to be invited. A prediction: Ferrari-Toyota fight with Alpine and BMW as referees.
