Michelle Gatting will not be riding in the special Iron Dames livery, which was planned for the 24 Hours of Le MansThe Dane, who formed a trio entered in LMGT3 with Rahel Frey and the Frenchwoman Célia Martin, is withdrawing from taking part in the Le Mans classic, Iron Dames announced in a press release.
Gatting, who was about to compete in her seventh 24 Hours of Le Mans, was injured during Sunday's test day: during a driver changeover practice, the Aarhus native fractured her foot. The injury forced her to withdraw from the rest of the week.
Iron Dames, who engages with Manthey a Porsche 911 GT3 R No. 85 in the LMGT3 class, announced its replacement by Sarah Bovy. She has been at the wheel for the last four editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Michelle Gatting and Rahel Frey. She will be joining the Swiss driver and Célia Martin, for whom this will be her first participation.
Michelle Gatting's withdrawal is a second major blow for the Iron Dames, who announced the withdrawal of Marta Garcia and Vanina Ickx from the Road to Le Mans race at the end of last week. The two drivers, competing in the Michelin Le Mans Cup in the No. 911 Porsche 3 GT83 R, will not participate in the event due to a health issue for the Belgian.
