Within the Johor Racing JMR team – which will participate in 24H of Le Mans Under the TF Sport banner, the initially announced trio will not be the ones taking part in the race. Indeed, Malaysian rider Afiq Ikhwan Yazid will ultimately not participate in the 24-hour race, thus giving his place to Briton Lorcan Hanafin. This was announced by the team on Monday morning, just a few days before the teams arrive in Le Mans.
The No. 2 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R will therefore carry Lorcan Hanafin alongside two Le Mans rookie drivers, Prince Jefri Ibrahim and Ben Green. Entered with Mercedes Benz Having driven for Iron Lynx at last year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, Hanafin is no stranger to the Corvette GT3. His experience driving this car was mainly built in the GT World Challenge Europe, within the Steller Motorsport team.
First target arrival at Le Mans
“I participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time last year and it’s a truly exceptional event,” the Briton rejoiced. The technical checks, the drivers' parade, the circuit itself, and the overall atmosphere in the city are truly unique. I'm delighted to be working with Prince Jefri, Ben Green, and the entire JMR team this year. I believe we can achieve a good result: we have an excellent team, JMR builds a very competitive car, and the team is very strong, with numerous podium finishes and wins worldwide. We simply need to be consistent, fast, avoid incidents, and be in contention from the start.
In the heart of a 25-car LMGT3 field, the No. 2 Corvette will have its work cut out for it to try and perform against much more experienced crews. In this case, Lorcan Hanafin, despite having already raced at Le Mans, did not finish the race in 2025.
