With three wins in three rounds of the WEC, Ferrari, leading the championship before arriving at Le Mans, has had a start to the season above his expectations according to Antonello Coletta, the boss of theEndurance of the stable. According to the Italian manager, these results are notably the fruit of a “long work in the winter to focus on the weak points”.
Having won twice in La Sarthe in Hypercar, the Scuderia knows that the counters are almost reset to zero for the Le Mans classic. "The history of Le Mans is different; anything can happen; it's a different competition. The preparation varies from year to year; there are more or fewer competitors, and each competitor improves.", Coletta advances.
"We're looking to do our best to stay at the top of the standings, even though we're aware it won't be an easy race. We have to focus on speed, of course, because to do well you have to go fast.", he assures again. Logically, the Italian does not hide it, Ferrari "probably the team to beat."
Antonio Coletta continues: "We're one of the manufacturers who can fight at the front. After just one day of testing, it's quite difficult to say which team is the fastest. With the data at our disposal, I can't say we're the favorites, but I hope we can become one!"
Ferrari does not want to let the championship slip away
Beyond 24H of Le Mans, where the points will be doubled compared to the 6 Hours of Spa or Imola, the Scuderia wants "To win everything. The goal this year is to win the championship, where last year we were very competitive. For various reasons, we didn't have the opportunity to finish at the top.", recalls Antonello Coletta.
"Even though we fought until the last race, we had difficulties. This year the situation is different, our main objective is different." And that still requires a big result in Sarthe. "The race is very important, of course. Our goal is to win again, to finish on the podium, and we are ready to fight until the end.", says the boss of Endurance at Ferrari.
Finally, according to the leader, there is no additional pressure this week. "We'll try to give 110% as always. The pressure is always there because when you work at Ferrari, you face it every day. We're used to living with it. It's an extra strength we have to transform all this into extra energy to achieve our results.", concludes the Italian.
