Already victorious in two double clock towers since entering competition at the start of 2023, the Ferrari 296 GT3 will try to bag a third success in a 24-hour race this weekend. The Italian racing car, assembled by the French company Oreca, will be present in five examples in the brand new LMGT3 category. Two will wear the colors of Vista AF Corse, the usual FIA team WEC, one with JMW Motorsport, another with GR Racing and finally a last one with Spirit of Race. The official Prancing Horse drivers shared their impressions before Free Practice 1 this Wednesday.

Davide Rigon: “We are ready to take on a big challenge”

« We are at Le Mans, on this magnificent circuit, for the first time with the Ferrari 296 LMGT3, rejoices Davide Rigon, driver of the Vista AF Corse n°54. During the Test Day, the car behaved well and we received positive feedback. With Free Practice and Qualifying, we enter the heart of an important weekend for the whole team. We can't wait to race in such an extraordinary setting as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the affection of the public makes the atmosphere surrounding the track truly unique. The race will be very interesting and complex, not only because of the many variables that characterize this race, but also because of the large number of cars on the grid. We are ready to take on a big challenge. »

« It's always nice to come back to Le Mans to take part in a race which has a very special flavor for a driver, adds Alessio Rovera who rides the Vista AF Corse n°55. During the Test Day, we worked on the settings of a car, the 296 LMGT3, which is making its debut in this race. As a team and as drivers, our goal will be to avoid making mistakes and maximize the potential of the car with the aim of achieving a good result, also helped by a little luck, which will give us has been lacking so far in the championship, notably at Imola and Spa. »

« Arriving at Le Mans for the most anticipated race of the year is a great boost for every driver, and personally, I am happy to be back at the start of the most famous 24 Hours in the world, concludes Daniel Serra, who will be at the wheel of the #86 GR Racing. This year a new category debuts and for the first time we will see on the track a car with great potential like the Ferrari 296 LMGT3: for me it is also the first time with the GR Racing team, a team that is well organized and ready to take on a significant challenge like this. I'm looking forward to Saturday afternoon and the most anticipated race of the season. »
