After 11 months of renovation, the former Museum of 24 Hours of Le Mans It's changing its name to embark on a new, even richer adventure. Since Thursday, May 28th, visitors can discover the M24 – Motorsport Museum, a place like no other. “The M24 was born from a twofold observation: that of a heritage absolutely unique in the world, and that of a new expectation from the public, "says Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club of the West. Today, people no longer just come to "see" cars lined up. They want to understand, to feel, to immerse themselves. They want to experience a story. As such, an immersive scenography is announced, with innovative atmospheric effects (lights, sounds). “The idea is not to simply add up cars, but to tell stories,” continues Richard Mille, who is exhibiting part of his collection of racing cars. “To stage exceptional vehicles, like exhibiting works of art, to evoke emotion, curiosity, and wonder.” The route, comprised of twelve themed areas, allows visitors to relive a century of key moments from the 24 Hours of Le Mans, without forgetting other types of racing: the Formula 1 Endurance, Rally, the Can-Am and theIndyCarA collection of legendary models is assembled in a custom-designed setting to showcase these masterpieces. M24 displays one of the richest collections in the world of motorsport. The authentic, fully functional models on display have all made their mark on history, dating back to the 19th century. The hundred or so vehicles exhibited at M24 all carry a glorious past. Some of the rarest objects accompany them, such as the racing suits of Ayrton Senna (three-time Formula 1 World Champion) from the Toleman era in 1984 and Jacky Ickx (six-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans), which will be featured prominently in this space dedicated to legend. This is also the case for the Rudge-Whitworth Cup, the trophy from the first edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1923. In addition, a collection of 4,800 miniatures – replicas of all the cars that have participated in the 24 Hours since 1923 – is currently being finalized by volunteers. Finally, a 300 m² shop will allow visitors to leave with a souvenir related to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
