As part of the development of the ARX-06 prototypes which will participate in IMSA in 2023, ORECA has decided to partner with Acura. This partnership is part of the future LMDh program which will begin in 2023. Thus, the Meyer Shank Racing and Wayne Taylor Racing teams will drive the new cars developed for the occasion, the Acura ARX-06. At this time, we do not know the identity of the pilots.
Aside from the identity of the pilots, no technical details have been revealed for the ARX-06. We just know that the Oreca LMP2 car will use “Acura-specific bodywork, aerodynamics and internal combustion engine.” The new prototype should be operational by next March or April.
David Salters, president of Honda Performance Development, the North American arm of Acura Motorsports: “It is a pleasure to announce that we will continue our association with ORECA in the new electrified LMDh era. We have enjoyed a very successful partnership with ORECA through the current Acura ARC-05 program, including winning the IMSA Manufacturers' Championship in 2019 and 2020.”
Announcing our continued collaboration with @Oreca to design and develop the new, electrified @Acura ARX-06 LMDh prototype, and confirming our continued partnerships with @WayneTaylorRcng and @MeyerShankRac.
