This is an announcement that we didn't necessarily expect. Alongside his 3rd place in LMP2 with Roberto González and António Felix Da Costa (JOTA Sport No. 38) at the 6 Hours of Bahrain this Saturday, Anthony Davidson announced the end of his professional career. This will take place next weekend during the final round of the 2021 campaign of WEC, still in Bahrain.

« One more race… I have decided that this will also be my last race as a professional driver, he wrote on his Twitter account. It was an incredible and unforgettable trip. I thank everyone who contributed."

Anthony Davidson's career began in 1999 with the British Formula Ford title. The Englishman then continued his classes until reaching the Formula 1 in 2001 where he was a BAR Honda reserve driver. A year later, he made his premier class debut by competing in the Hungarian and Belgian Grands Prix with Minardi.

The Briton then waited until 2007 to experience his first full-time season with Super Aguri and 17 Grands Prix under his belt. The Japanese team formalizing its withdrawal after only four races in 2008, Anthony Davidson chose to turn toEndurance while maintaining a link with F1 since he was Brawn GP reserve driver in 2009 and then Mercedes in 2010 before becoming a simulator pilot.

In Endurance, the Englishman notably competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Peugeot et Toyota. Not retained by the Japanese firm after the 2017 campaign and three podiums in Sarthe, the 42-year-old driver continued his career in the industry and notably in LMP2 with DragonSpeed and more recently JOTA Sport. Still a simulator driver for Mercedes in F1, Anthony Davidson will take part in the last race of his career next weekend at the 8 Hours of Bahrain (November 5-7).
