The Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH finally sell out for the 2025 seasons of WEC and IMSA. While the British manufacturer will make its Hypercar debut on February 28 at the 1812 km of Qatar, all of its drivers were presented during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. Until now, only Harry Tincknell and Alex Riberas had been made official.
In No. 007, the 33-year-old Englishman will be teamed with Tom Gamble (23) and Ross Gunn (28) for a "so British" crew. The former has already competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, in GTE Am in 2021 and in LM P2 in 2023. The second is a regular at Aston Martin, with whom he went to La Sarthe in 2017, 2020 and 2021, each time in GTE. He is also part of the Heart of Racing team, with which he has been racing in IMSA since 2021.
Gunn and De Angelis to race in IMSA
It is in the sister car, flanked by the n°009, that we note the arrival of a former winner from Le Mans. Indeed, Alex Riberas will be accompanied by Marco Sørensen (34 years old) and Roman de Angelis (23 years old). The Dane is well known in the WEC since he won the championship three times, always with the Gaydon brand: in GTE Pro in 2016 and 2019 during the golden age of this category, as well as in GTE Am in 2022. Note that this promotion allows Marco Sørensen to meet up with many of his former GTE Pro opponents, notably at Ferrari or Porsche. He also won at Le Mans in 2022 in GTE Am, with Ben Keating and Henrique Chaves. As for Roman de Angelis, the 23-year-old Canadian has mainly driven in IMSA since 2020, winning at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2023 in the GTD category alongside Sø0rensen, Heart of Racing Team boss Ian James and Darren Turner.
In addition to the WEC, Ross Gunn and Roman de Angelis will be racing in IMSA, where Aston Martin will be fielding another example of its Valkyrie, which will wear the number 23. With the conflicting dates between the two calendars, the duo should however miss the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, on May 10, since they will be entered the same weekend at Laguna Seca in California. The Gaydon firm also presented its liveries for the two championships. In WEC, the two Valkyrie LMHs will wear a green livery faithful to the Aston Martin colors, while the only car entered in IMSA will wear the usual blue of Heart of Racing Team. The first race of the English prototype in the North American championship ofEndurance will be the 12 Hours of Sebring (March 12-15).
Since the first tests of the Valkyrie hypercar in July 2024, The Heart of Racing, the operating team has embarked on a vast test program that has exceeded 15 km from Donington Park to Daytona via Silverstone, Vallelunga, Jerez, Sakhir and Losail.
