Two years after its official debut in competition, the Cadillac V-Series.R powered by its ferocious naturally aspirated V8 receives its first major evolution. The Detroit firm took advantage of the pre-season tests IMSA, organized on November 15 and 16 on the Daytona track, to test and validate the new features introduced on the American LMDh.
The three prototypes entered in IMSA this season – two for the Wayne Taylor Racing team, one for Action Express Racing – have received an evolution in the electronic control system, "with the aim of improving consistency in control areas for greater consistency and reliability, and increasing data quality", says Cadillac. The two Cadillac-JOTAs registered in WEC next year will also be equipped with this update.
An evolution so important that Cadillac had to draw its first development joker out of the five authorized for manufacturers during the homologation cycle of Hypercars and LMDh. “The entire program gets better every year and it’s great that Cadillac continues to progress, grow and push the boundaries. With this wild card evolution, we will continue to have more success.”, said Earl Bamber, who will respect a double IMSA-WEC program in 2025 with the American firm.
With a proven and fast V-Series.R on the Florida circuit – the American manufacturer had taken pole position at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2024 – Cadillac did not seek to beat the clock during the pre-season tests this weekend and focused its work on the long runs and the reliability of the new system. In the cumulative ranking of the two days of testing, the first Cadillac set the 10th absolute time thanks to Jack Aitken in the No. 31. In total, the three Cadillacs completed 886 laps during the 16-hour session. In 2025, the Detroit firm will have to deal with new teams that will discover the V-Series.R: with JOTA in WEC and with Wayne Taylor Racing in IMSA.
