Corvette to compete in IMSA and WEC in 2022

For the first time, Corvette Racing will participate in several endurance championships in 2022. The American team announced in a press release that it will line up in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar and WEC (in LMGTE Pro) for the entire season. Corvette Racing will therefore field a Chevrolet Corvette C8.R in each series. The six 2021 drivers will return for this double program: Antonio Garcia, Jordan Taylor and Nicky Catsburg will ride in IMSA while Tommy Milner, Nick Tandy and Alexander Sims will compete in the World Championship. “This is the most ambitious program Corvette Racing has faced in its nearly 25 years of competition, said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. vice president of performance and motorsports. It will be an honor to race in both the IMSA and WEC series at some of the best tracks in the world. » Concerning the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Corvette Racing plans to submit an entry request for a second car. Chevrolet also confirmed that Corvette Z06 GT3.R cars will be built for customer teams starting in the 2024 season.
