French teams are on a roll at Le Castellet. After IDEC Sport's strong showing in Free Practice 1 on Friday, it was Forestier Racing by Panis who set the fastest time in Free Practice 2 on Saturday at the Paul Ricard circuit. Winners in Barcelona for the season opener, the reigning champions topped the timesheets thanks to Esteban Masson, who clocked a time of 1:49.660.
The competition was pushed back by more than half a second, with the #43 Inter Europol Competition (Jakub Śmiechowski, Tom Dillmann, Luca Ghiotto) at 0.606 seconds and the #37 CLX Motorsport (Adrien Closmenil, Theodor Jensen, Ian Aguilera) at 0.635 seconds. In LMP2 Pro/Am, it is the No. 30 Oreca 07 from Duqueine Team (Giorgo Roda, Richard Verschoor, Dorian Pin) who set the benchmark time of 1:50.605, just ahead of the #83 AF Corse car (François Perrodo, Matthieu Vaxiviere, Antonio Fuoco). The Italian team finished a mere 19 thousandths of a second behind.
R-ace GP dominated the LMP3 category standings with its Duqueine D09 – Toyota No. 85 (Fabien Michal, Pierre-Alexandre Provost, Hugo Schwarze) in 2:00.441 for 0.364 seconds ahead of the Ligier JS P325 – Toyota No. 68 of M Racing (Nick Adcock, Quentin Antonel, Thomas Imbourg).
Finally, the LMGT3 saw the Classic Ferrari for sale The #57 Kessel Racing 296 Evo (Takeshi Kimura, Mathys Jaubert, Daniel Serra) set the fastest time at 2:02.986. Again, the difference was minimal with the second-place finish held by the French trio from Racing Spirit of Léman.Aston Martin Vantage AMR nº59 of Clément Mateu, Marius Fossard and Valentin Hasse-Clot thus finished only 87 thousandths of a second behind.
Now it's time for qualifying for the 4 Hours of Le Castellet, the second round of the 2026 European season. Le Mans Series, starting at 15:10 PM.
