Dutchman Rik Koen set the fastest time on this second day of the European Prologue Le Mans Series, at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Setting the fastest time in the morning session, the driver of the #19 Rossa Racing by Virage Oreca 07 impressed with a lap of 1:29.330 on his fifth lap, a time that remained unbeaten throughout the day. Previously seen in LMP3, also with Team Virage, Koen will be a name to watch in the 2026 season, this time in LMP2 Pro/Am.
The #3 DKR Engineering car posted the second-fastest time of the day, ahead of the #27 Nielsen Racing entry. It's worth noting that all three cars are competing in the LMP2 Pro/Am category, which promises to be particularly competitive this season. In the afternoon, Theodor Jensen set the fastest time in the #17 CLX Motorsport car, also entered in LMP2, but was unable to break the 1:30 lap barrier.
The day's major event occurred during the morning session when the #22 United Autosports Oreca 07 (Griffin Peebles, Grégoire Saucy, Ben Hanley) caught fire in the pit lane. The driver (whose identity has not been disclosed) and team members who extinguished the blaze were taken to the circuit's medical center as a precaution, where they were examined and declared fit by the medical team. The car was unable to return to the track in the afternoon, as was the case for the Classic Ferrari for sale No. 86 of GR Racing in LMGT3.
In LMP3, R-ace GP set the fastest time with the #85 car during the afternoon session, while the LMGT3 class was led, as on Monday, by the Porsche High Class Racing's #54 911 GT3 R LMGT3. The teams now have a few days to digest all the data collected during this Prologue, before the opening of the 4 Hours of Barcelona weekend this Friday with free practice.
