No doubt, BMW and Team WRT will not be idle in 2024, far from it! The Munich manufacturer and the Belgian team have had a very busy season, including a double commitment in WEC, with two Hypercars and two LMGT3s entered, while continuing their collaboration in GT World Challenge Europe with no less than three BMW M4 GT3s on the track!

Team WRT held its traditional Winter Party on Friday evening at Spa, where 220 people, made up of the WRT family, their partners, drivers and special guests, gathered to officially launch its competitive program for 2024.

Leung and Al-Harthy, Bronze drivers in LMGT3

We already knew the crews for the two Hypercars in WEC, unveiled last January by BMW. On the other hand, the two crews for the LMGT3 category have been finalized: on the No. 31, Augusto Farfus, already confirmed by the brand with the propeller, is joined by Sean Gelael and Bronze driver Darren Leung, from British GT . On number 46, Valentino Rossi and Maxime Martin will be supported by Ahmad Al-Harthy, former driver at ORT by TF Sport with Aston Martin and author of a pole and two podiums in GTE Am last year.

In GT World Challenge Europe, we will find some well-known names in the discipline: Dries Vanthoor and Charles Weerts, multiple Sprint Cup champions, will once again be associated in the No. 32, always accompanied by Sheldon Van der Linde on the rounds ofEndurance Cup. In the No. 46 of “Doctor” Valentino Rossi and Maxime Martin, Raffaele Marciello will complete the crew for the Endurance Cup rounds. Finally, the No. 30 will be driven by Ahmad Al Harthy, Sam De Haan and Jens Klingmann in the Endurance Cup, while Calan Williams will replace the Omani driver in the Sprint Cup.

“The 2024 season will be an important milestone in the history of Team WRT, underlines Vincent Vosse, principal director of the Belgian team. As we embark on this exciting adventure, many thoughts come to mind. Compete in the WEC and 24H of Le Mans for the general classification has always been our goal, as a team and mine personally. Today, the dream comes true. »

“To participate with a Hypercar, in what is probably the most competitive era of endurance racing, to defend the colors of a legendary brand like BMW, is already an accomplishment in itself, but of course we want to succeed in this new challenge. The whole team has been preparing for months for this, and we will all give everything to succeed. It won't be easy, we know, but we have an extraordinary team, incredible drivers, a superb car and the support of BMW M Motorsport, where we have reunited with many old friends and made new ones. »
