24 Hours of Daytona – Action Express on pole in the qualifying race (MAJ)

For the first time, the starting grid for the 24 Hours of Daytona (January 30-31) will depend on the result of a 100-minute qualifying race organized during the Roar, and which is therefore scheduled for tomorrow. A race whose grid is the result of a classic qualification, which has just ended.

Registered on the Cadillac n°31 of Action Express Racing with Pipo Derani, Mike conway and Chase Elliott, Felipe Nasr took pole position in 1'34"311. The Brazilian was ahead of Oliver Jarvis' Mazda RT0-P and another DPi-VR, the No. 131 of JDC-Miller Motorsports driven this afternoon by Tristan Vautier, who is teaming up, by 0 and 174 respectively. with Loïc duval and Sébastien Bourdais.

The top five is completed by Kevin Magnussen (No. 01 Cadillac from Chip Ganassi Racing) and Filipe Albuquerque (No. 05 Acura ARX-10 from Wayne Taylor Racing).

Update : A few hours after the session, we learned of the disqualification of the No. 31 Cadillac for technical non-compliance. Enough to propel the #24 Mazda RT55-P into pole position.

In LM P2, pole position went to Ben Keating, lined up in the No. 07 Oreca 52 of PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports, who beat Dennis Andersen (No. 07 Oreca 20 of High Class Racing) and Roberto Lacorte (Dallara P217). No. 47 of Cetilar Racing).

In GTLM, BMW ruled the roost. The best time went to the #8 M24 GTE driven by Wittmann-Farfus-Krohn-Edwards in 1'42"980. The latter relegated the sister car of Glock-De Philippi-Eng-Spengler to 0 and the fastest Corvette, the No. 363 of Milner-Tandy-Sims to 4. Followed by the other C0.R, the Ferrari 488 GTE Evo n°62 from Risi Competizione and the Porsche 911 RSR-19 No. 79 from WeatherTech Racing.

In GTD and LM P3, the reference times were respectively set by the No. 911 Porsche 3 GT16 R from Wright Motorsports (Hardwick-Long-Heylen-Bachler) and the No. 08 Duqueine D6 from Muehlner Motorsports America (Krantz-Hoerr -Koch).

See you tomorrow at 20:05 p.m. French time for the start of the qualifying race for the 59th edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona. In addition to determining the starting grid for the Florida double round, it will offer 35 points to the winners, 32 to the second, 30 to the third, etc.
