24 Hours of Daytona – Action Express on pole

For the first time, the starting grid for the 24 Hours of Daytona (January 30-31) is the result of a qualifying race organized today (Sunday January 24) and pitting duos against each other.

Dispossessed of its pole yesterday for technical non-compliance, the No. 31 Cadillac took its revenge by winning this afternoon. The Action Express Racing DPi-VR entrusted for the occasion to Felipe Nasr and Pipo Derani finished ahead of the No. 24 Mazda RT55-P of Harry Tincknell and Oliver Jarvis, who had regained pole position on the green carpet.

In third place, we find Loïc duval and Tristan Vautier, who shared the No. 5 JDC-Miller MotorSports Cadillac. A good omen for the 100% French trio that the two men form with Sébastien Bourdais. In fourth row, another tricolor: Olivier Pla, who teamed up with Dane Cameron on the No. 05 Acura ARX-60 of Meyer Shank Racing.

In GTLM, unsurprisingly, Corvette Racing takes the double, the No. 4 of Nick Tandy-Alexander Sims ahead of the No. 3 of Jordan Taylor-Nicky Catsburg. The surprise comes from third place in the Porsche 911 RSR-19 from WeatherTech Racing driven by Kévin Estre and Cooper MacNeil.

The two BMW M8 GTE bring up the rear, also ahead of the Ferrari 488 GTE Evo from Risi Competizione with, today at the wheel, Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado.

In LM P2, Ben Keating and Mikkel Jensen took pole position at the wheel of the No. 07 PR52/Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca 1. Today they were ahead of Andersen-Habsburg (High Class Racing) and Gabriel Aubry-John Farano (Tower Motorsport).

The top three in LM P3 is formed by the No. 08 Duqueine D6 from Mühlner Motorsports America (Kranz-Hörr), the No. 7 Duqueine from Forty7 Motorsports (Kvamme-Norman) and the No. 320 Ligier JS P54. of Core Motorsport (Bennett-Kurtz).

Finally, the No. 6 Turner Motorsport BMW M3 GT96 took pole in GTD thanks to Auberlen-Foley. The two men preceded the No. 911 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 3 G9 R (Robichon-L. Vanthoor) and the No. 3 GRT Lamborghini Huracan GT111 entrusted to Ineichen and Bortolotti.

The 49 competitors expected at the start of the 59th edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona now meet on Thursday for the next free practice session.
