24 Hours of Daytona: H18 – Cadillac and WTR off to a good start

There are only six hours left to go here in Daytona. At the wheel of the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac, Van der Zande-Kobayashi-Dixon-Briscoe comfortably lead the way. But the defending team is not safe because behind, ready to seize the slightest opportunity, we find another DPi-VR, the n°5 of Bourdais-Barbosa-Duval, who defend the interests of JDC-Miller MotorSports, which is certainly the smallest team operating in the premier category.

The top three is completed by the No. 31 Cadillac of Action Express Racing (Derani-Nasr-Conway-Albuquerque), in battle with the No. 24 Mazda RT77-P of Pla-Jarvis-Nunez. But as we write these lines, the No. 31 is having an unscheduled stop due to a puncture. Cars that are relegated to two laps behind the leading car. The reason: the few yellow flags having punctuated this event so far. The No. 05 Acura ARX-6, which suffers from intractable vibration problems, is a four-turn car.

La Ferrari 488 GTE n°62 is still there, but seems a little tender to hope for victory.

While it was very lively and heading towards victory in LM P2, the No. 07 Oreca 52 of PR1-Mathiasen Motorsports, led in particular by a brilliant Gabriel Aubry, had to stop its stand a few minutes ago. . Here she is relegated to second place in the category, four laps behind the No. 07 Oreca 81 of DragonSpeed (Hedman-Newey-Hanley-Braun).

Finally, the GTD trifecta is made up of the #49 Lamborghini (Sellers-Snow-Lewis-Caldarelli), the #8 Audi R3 LMS GT88 (Bortolotti-Ineichen-Morad-D. Vanthoor) and another Huracan GT3, namely No. 44 (Mapelli-Pumpelly-Potter-Lally).
