Action Express Racing is struggling to maintain its leading position now occupied by the No. 5 Corvette DP of Christian Fittipaldi. The lead car is chased by a group of five cars consisting of the #2 Ligier JS P2 ESM of Luis Felipe Derani, the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette of Jordan Taylor, the #90 Visitflorida Racing of Ryan Dalziel and the No. 01 Riley of Andy Priaulx's Chip Ganassi Racing. Sister car #31 returned to the pits following contact with the wall.
