24H Daytona – The point at 5 hours from the finish

With just over five hours to go, the fight is still intense for the lead in the 24 Hours of Daytona where no less than four DPs are still on the same lap. The Florida event was stopped for nearly two hours early in the morning following thick fog drastically reducing visibility on the track. Scott Pruett managed to regain the lead in the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing BMW-Riley. But the race leader only has a handful of seconds ahead of the No. 10 VelocityWW Corvette DP of Jordan Taylor and the No. 9 Action Express Racing Corvette DP driven by Joao Barbosa.

Oliver Gavin occupies fourth place in the Spirit of Daytona Racing #90 Corvette DP while Sébastien Bourdais completes the top five in the No. 2 Starworks Motorsport Ford-Riley which fell in the standings following a puncture. Justin Wilson is one lap behind in sixth place behind the wheel of the No. 60 Michael Shank Racing Ford-Riley. Scott Dixon is seventh in the No. 02 Chip Ganassi Racing BMW-Riley, which is nevertheless several laps behind the lead of the race.

The fight is also very hotly contested at the forefront of the GT category where the leaders follow one another throughout the pit stops, allowing Porsche, Ferrari and Audi to showcase themselves. Anthony Lazzaro temporarily occupies the GT lead at the wheel of the No. 458 Ferrari 69 of AIM Autosport while the No. 458 F63 of the Team Corsa Michelotto driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi follows about ten seconds behind. Kuba Giermaziak completes the leading trio in the No. 3 Porsche GT30 of Momo/NGT Motorsport where Patrick Pilet is in the lead before his last refueling, but the Porsche has just suffered a puncture damaging the front axle and causing the 13th neutralization of the race. Oliver Jarvis places the first R8 in fourth place. The No. 3 Alex Job Racing Porsche GT23 Cup of the MacNeil-Bleekemolen-Holzer-Faulner crew and the No. 3 Magnus Racing GT44 currently driven by Nicolas Armindo complete the top six in the category on the same lap as the leader . The No. 16 Napleton Racing Porsche Cayman continues to dominate the GX class.
