Novice in prototype, Alexander Sims seems to have made his mark behind the wheel of the Cadillac V-LMDh. The Briton was indeed the fastest in the fourth Free Practice session for the 24 Hours of Daytona with the No. 31 from Action Express Racing in 1:35.493. He beat another machine from the Detroit (Michigan) manufacturer, the No. 01 driven by Scott Dixon by 0.224 seconds.
A double which confirms the rise of Cadillac, while BMW finally showed up in third position with Nick Yelloly in the No. 25, 0.432 seconds behind the best time. simon pagenaud took fifth place in this session, but his Acura ARX-06 encountered problems at the end of the session. Reliability is also the main concern for the Japanese manufacturer, since the car has not completed a 24-hour test. This weekend will therefore serve as a full-scale test for Honda's high-end brand.
Note that this session was the last for all other categories. Romain Grosjean distinguished himself at the wheel of the No. 3 Lamborghini Huracán GT63 of Iron Lynx by setting the second time in his category, just 0.038 seconds behind Jules Gounon on the Mercedes-AMG No. 79 from WeatherTech Racing.
The GTPs will return to the track for a final practice session at 00:25 a.m. (French time).
