24H. of Daytona – James Hinchcliffe joins Mazda

Mazda Motorsports has confirmed its lineups for the 2017 seasonIMSA Sportscar Championship, as well as reinforcements for the 24 Hours of Daytona (January 28-29).

Jonathan Bomarito will be associated throughout the season with Tristan Nunez in the No. 24 Mazda RT55-P, both being supported at Daytona by Spencer Pigot, 2015 Indy Lights champion, and seen in IndyCar at Team RLL and Ed Carpenter Racing.

On the No. 70, the holders Tom Long and Joel Miller will receive top-notch reinforcement in Florida with the Canadian James hinchcliffe. The Schmidt Peterson Motorsports IndyCar driver will be lined up in the DPi for his return to the Florida classic, after his absence in 2016 following his accident at the 500 Indy 2015.

“It’s great to be back behind the wheel at Daytona!” It was a shame to miss last year's race, but my goal at the time was to get back in shape for the IndyCar season, Hinchcliffe explains.

Coming back with Mazda and with SpeedSource, with whom I did all my races at Daytona, it's like coming home and I want to thank Sylvain Tremblay (owner of SpeedSource) and John Doonan (director of Mazda Motorsports) for this chance. »
