24 Hours of Daytona – Sam Bird reunites with Scuderia Corsa

Briton Sam Bird will drive the No. 488 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 3 GT64 at the next 24 Hours of Daytona. The Italian GT will also be fielded in all NAEC rounds in IMSA in 2018.

24 Hours of Daytona – Sam Bird reunites with Scuderia Corsa

Team race confirmed the entry of a second Ferrari 488 GT3, badged No. 64, in IMSA in 2018, only on North American races Endurance Cup, namely the 24 Hours of Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring, the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen and Petit Le Mans.

Giacomo Mattioli's structure, which also fields the No. 63 year-round for the Cooper MacNeil and Alessandro Balzan tandem, will be able to count on Townsend Bell, Bill Sweedler, Frankie Montecalvo for all four races.

The trio will be reinforced by the Briton Sam bird, resident of AF Corse in WEC and DS Virgin Racing in Formula e, for the 24 Hours of Daytona, as was the case in 2017.

Sweedler and Bell allowed Scuderia Corsa to triumph in IMSA in the GTD category in 2015, as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2016 in GTE Am. Frankie Montecalvo recently competed in the Pirelli World Challenge with a Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3, and had won the GTA category of the American series in 2015 with a Mercedes SLS AMG GT3.

Note that Bell, Sweedler and Montecalvo competed together in the NAEC in 2017 in the Audi R8 LMS GT3 of Alex Job Racing.
