The night at Daytona was very difficult for the Cadillac clan, with two of its three prototypes involved in accidents. First there was the No. 40 shortly after the seventh hour when Louis Delétraz lost control on cold tires.
The #40 leading the race and in contention for victory was caught in an accident involving several cars including the #07 Oreca 2 of the United Autosports team driven by Nick Boulle. The latter took with him Chris Cumming (Pratt Miller Motorsports) and Sébastien Bourdais (Tower Motorsports).

But the sky darkened once again for Cadillac when the No. 31 appeared immobilized on the track and heavily damaged. After checking, Frederik Vesti suffered a problem with the rear-left suspension which gave way. While he was on the banking, the Dane hit the wall before ending up below shortly before the halfway mark. Re-emerged after a long stay in the garage, the Cadillac No. 31 lost 52 laps in the affair.
