24 Hours of Daytona – United Autosports back in 2018

Engaged on the frontELMS and 24 Hours of Le Mans this year, United Autosports will cross the Atlantic next year to mark its return to another 24 Hour event, at Daytona, to open the championship IMSA 2018.

Already present in Florida in 2011 with a Riley Ford, United Autosports will this time place its trust in the Ligier JS P217, which Zak Brown's structure is operating this season. The American Will owen has already been confirmed as the first pilot.

“Zak and I have always wanted United Autosports to compete in the biggest sports car races in the world and the 24 Hours of Daytona is one of those where we not only want to compete, but be at the forefront , specifies Richard Dean, co-owner and manager of United Autosports.

This is an iconic and historic event, I remember as a child watching Derek Bell, Brian Redman, Jochen Mass, Bob Wollek and all the great names in the sport. We hope that other European teams will bring their LM P2s to Florida in January to try to measure themselves against the American teams and lead the peloton in this great race. »

News that also delights the officials of the American series. “We are delighted that United Autosports has already confirmed its intention to participate in the race in 2018, says Scott Atherton, president of IMSA.

Zak Brown and Richard Dean have clearly built a world-class racing team with United Autosports, which is a prerequisite for success at Daytona and in the IMSA championship.

We warmly welcome Will Owen, Zak, Richard and everyone associated with United Autosports and wish them the best with this program. »
