24H. of Daytona – Wayne Taylor Racing and Action Express in battle

After a morning largely disrupted by rain and neutralized on several occasions, including one lasting almost an hour and forty minutes, the 24 Hours of Daytona returned to a smoother flow, despite a still wet track.

In these conditions, the Cadillac DPi-VRs did not let go of the controls of the race since the #10 of Wayne Taylor Racing of Ricky Taylor was in the lead ahead of the #5 of Action Express Racing of Joao Barbosa. But the recent passage through the pits offered leadership to the No. 5.

Still on the same lap as the two Cadillacs, the #30 Multimatic-Riley Mk.90 Gibson of VisitFlorida Racing of Renger van der Zande is third and remains in ambush.

Under the rain, the new Porsche 911 RSR demonstrates that it has lost none of the qualities of its predecessor. Patrick Pilet, despite a puncture at the start of the event, returned to the front with the no. 911 and placed fifth overall ahead of the no. 66 Ford GT of his compatriot Sébastien Bourdais, pointed at 19″. Jan Magnussen places the first Corvette C7.R in third position in the category at 45″.

Performance Tech Motorsports confirms its preferential position in PC with the No. 09 Oreca FLM38 still at the head of the category. In GTD, the No. 3 and No. 86 Acura NSX GT93s from Michael Shank Racing drivers IndyCar Ryan Hunter-Reay and Graham Rahal remain in the lead.

The race is currently neutralized after the No. 09 BAR26 Motorsports Oreca FLM1 lost its front hood on track.
