39 cars for the 24 Hours of Daytona

The first major double round of the clock of the season will begin in just over a week at the Daytona circuit (Florida), with 39 cars expected to aim for a prestigious victory on the other side of the Atlantic. and thus ideally launch the season IMSA.

Eight DPi will be in the starting blocks for the honors of the general classification with the favorites being the two Acura ARX-05s from Acura Team Penske, entrusted to the trios Montoya – Cameron – Pagenaud and R.Taylor – Castroneves - Red.

In high spirits at the Roar Before the Rolex 24 earlier this month, the Mazda RT24-Ps of Mazda Team Joest are expected to provide some of the fiercest opposition to the outgoing champions, with two crews of Pla – Jarvis – Nunez and Tincknell – Hunter-Reay – Bomarito to watch.

The Cadillac DPi-VRs intend to return to the forefront with Wayne Taylor Racing but also with JDC-Miller, with two prototypes entrusted to crews with French accents with Sébastien Bourdais et Loïc duval associated with Joao Barbosa on the No. 5, and Tristan Vautier as road captain of the No. 85 with Juan Piedrahita – Matheus Leist – Chris Miller.

Six LM P2s, five Oreca 07s and a Riley MKII, will also be in action with one to watch Nicolas lapierre at Tower Motorsport by Starworks, Nicolas Minassian at Era Motorsport, or even Gabriel Aubry at PR1/Mathiasen, a team which will ultimately only field one Oreca 07.

Who to beat Porsche en GTLM ?

Title holder in GTLM, the German brand will logically be a candidate for its own succession, with its new 911 RSR. The Vanthoor – Bamber – Jaminet and Makowiecki – Tandy – Campbell crews will face competition at Daytona led by the new Corvette C8.R and its new architecture so much criticized by the purists of the American firm.

Fässler – Milner – Gavin and Garcia – J.Taylor – Catsburg will be responsible for taking the “'Vette” to the highest step of the podium and trying to succeed BMW, winner last year and which will once again field two M8s for the Edwards – Farfus – Mostert – Krohn and De Phillippi – Eng – Spengler – Herta quartets.

Risi Competizione, latest winner in Petit Le Mans last October, should not be forgotten, with James Calado – Daniel Serra – Alessandro Pier Guidi – Davide Rigon on the only Ferrari 488 GTLM engaged.

In GTD, the games seem very open, with 18 GT3s present on the track. Jules Gounon (Meyer Shank Racing – Acura NSX GT3 Evo) and Franck Perera (Grasser Racing Team – Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo) intend to shine.
