The German manufacturers have made a perfect start to the season: Porsche dominated the overall standings in the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) category, notably with Frenchman Julien Andlauer (see above), BMW won in Grand Touring Daytona Pro (GTD PRO) and Mercedes Benz-AMG won in Grand Touring Daytona (GTD).
Porsche achieved a one-two finish in GTP and GTD PRO at Sebring last year and will attempt to repeat this performance for the second consecutive year, while Winward Racing, with its No. 57 Mercedes-AMG GT3, aims for a third consecutive victory at Sebring in GTD.
A field of 55 cars spread across the four categories (11 GTP, 12 LMP2, 13 GTD PRO and 19 GTD) is expected at the start, with some notable changes compared to the 24 Hours of Daytona.
Pfaff Motorsports is preparing to debut the new Lamborghini Temerario GT3 in world competition. The full-year driver lineup of Andrea Caldarelli and Sandy Mitchell will be joined by Frenchman Franck Perera at the wheel of the team's No. 9 car.
JDC-Miller MotorSports has announced two changes. Its usual GTP entry, the #85 Porsche 963, will now carry the number 5, while retaining the same driver lineup: Tijmen van der Helm, Nico Pino, and Kaylen Frederick. The team is also fielding its LMP2 car again, with Gerry Kraut, Josh Burdon, and Sennan Fielding sharing the #79 Oreca 07.
As previously announced, the overall winner at Sebring in 2021, Tristan Vautier, returns to the WeatherTech Championship field, joining the #8 Tower Motorsports Oreca LMP2 07 in the LMP2 category to replace Sébastien Bourdais.
