61 cars are expected to start the 24 2025 Hours of Daytona on January 25 and 26, including 12 prototypes in the GTP category.

The starting grid for the 63rd edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona is becoming clearer. While not all the drivers are known yet, all the expected cars are. 61 entries have been registered for the Florida double-circle race: 12 GTPs, 12 LM P2s, 15 GTD Pros and 22 GTDs.

Magnussen at BMW, Grosjean with Lamborghini

Many announcements have been made in recent weeks, particularly from BMW with the participation of Kevin Magnussen in the American event at the wheel of the BMW M Hybrid V8 n°24. The Dane will have the opportunity to meet his former teammate at Haas en Formula 1 in the person of Romain Grosjean. Unsurprisingly, the Frenchman is confirmed in the Lamborghini SC63 alongside Mirko Bortolotti, Daniil Kvyat and Edoardo Mortara. This will be the first participation of the Italian prototype in the flagship event of the American championship ofEndurance after having missed out on 2024.

La Porsche 963 n°5 of Proton Competition is also present, despite its absence in the mentions of the German manufacturer's customer programs after the "Night of Champions". Gianmaria Bruni and Neel Jani are announced at the wheel of this car bearing the n°5, the third driver is not yet known. The same in the other customer Porsche, the n°85 of JDC Miller MotorSports where a third name is to be added to Tijmen van der Helm and Bryce Aron. If this second named does not ring a bell, he is a 21-year-old American, 9th in the Indy NXT championship, the antechamber of theIndyCar, this season.

A high level of LM P2 at the 24 Hours of Daytona

The LM P2 category will also offer an enticing line-up with several renowned drivers: Colton Herta (Crowdstrike by APR), Sébastien Bourdais (Tower Motorsports), Charles Milesi (TDS Racing), Paul-Loup Chatin (Era Motorsport), António Félix da Costa (Inter Europol Competition), Callum Ilott (Pratt Miller), Felipe Mass (Riley), Nicklas Nielsen and Matthieu Vaxiviere (PECOM Racing). Note the double entry of Ben Keating, both in this category and also in GTD Pro in a Trackhouse Corvette Z06 GT3.R alongside Shane van Gisbergen, Scott McLaughlin and Connor Zilisch.

Lilou Wadoux at Ferrari in GTD

With the Valkyrie LMH being a notable absence in GTP, Heart of Racing Team will field a Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in GTD Pro with Alex Riberas, Ross Gynn, Roman De Angelis and Marco Sørensen. Champion DTM 2023, Thomas Preining will be behind the wheel of the #911 Proton Competition Porsche 3 GT20 R alongside Claudio Schiavoni, Matteo Cressoni and Richard Lietz. The Pfaff Motorsports team is also entered in this class with a Lamborghini.

In GTD, we note the presence of three drivers from France: Valentin Hasse-Clot and Maxime Robin will be teammates in the Aston Martin Vantage n°19 of van der Steur Racing while Lilou Wadoux will drive the Ferrari 296 GT3 n°21 of the AF Corse team in the company of Alessandro Pier Guidi.
