Action Express Racing and Corvette on pole at Sebring

Beanie Derani, associated with Felipe Nasr on the Cadillac DPi-VR n°31 – Action Express Racing / Whelen Engineering did not tremble when signing the benchmark qualifying lap for the Sebring round in IMSA.

The Brazilian achieved his best lap in 1'46″733 and precedes Juan Pablo Montoya (Acura ARX-05 n°6 – Acura Team Penske) by 0″216. Renger van der Zande hoists the No. 10 – Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-VR that he shares with Ryan Briscoe into third position, three tenths ahead of the leading No. 24 – Mazda Motorsports Mazda RT77-P of Tristan Nunez – Oliver Jarvis.

Second in EL2, Sébastien Bourdais signs the 5th fastest time at the wheel of the No. 5 Cadillac DPi-VR – JDC-Miller Motorsports which he drives alongside Joao Barbosa.

Stephen Simpson places the second car of the team, shared with Tristan Vautier, in 7th position behind the second Acura ARX-05 n°7 – Acura Team Penske of Castroneves –Taylor. Pole in LM P2 goes to the #07 Oreca 52 – PR1 Mathiasen of Kelly – Pigot.

Winner for the first time at the last meeting at Daytona, the Corvette C8.R has found its cruising speed in GTLM. The two American cars achieved the double during these qualifications, with the No. 3 of Jordan Taylor, associated with Antonio Garcia, best time in 1'55″634.

On the No. 4, Oliver Gavin fails by more than three tenths but is ahead of the first by 64 thousandths Porsche 911 RSR n°911 of Frédéric Makowiecki, on track for this qualification. The Frenchman is ahead of his Belgian teammate Laurens Vanthoor (Porsche 911 RSR n°912) and the two BMW M8 – Team RLL of Jesse Krohn and Bruno Spengler.

In GTD, the Lexus RC F GT3 – AIM Vasser Sullivan beat the no. 488 Ferrari 3 GT63 – Team Corsa by Cooper MacNeil and Toni Vilander. The #12 of Frankie Montecalvo – Townsend Bell will start at the front of the category ahead of the #14 sister car of Aaron Tellitz – Jack Hawksworth.
