Action Express Racing wins in Detroit

A race reserved for prototypes and GT3s in the GTD category, the Detroit race favored Action Express Racing – Cadillac in the general classification, as well as the Acura NSX GT3 – Meyer Shank Racing in GTD.

Eric Curran and Felipe Nasr (Cadillac DPi-VR n°31) resisted until the end the return of the Acura ARX-05 n°7 – Team Penske d'Helio Castroneves and Ricky Taylor, who failed 1″ behind the winners. The podium is completed by the second Acura ARX-05 n°8 – Team Penske of Dane Cameron and Juan Pablo Montoya.

The top 5 is completed by the #2 Nissan DPi – ESM of Scott Sharp – Ryan Dalziel and the #10 – Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-VR of Renger van der Zande – Jordan Taylor. Pipo Derani, lined up in the second Nissan DPi – n°22 – ESM with Johannes van Overbeek and starting from pole, was forced to change steering at the start of the race and finally finished 7th.

For the return of the No. 90 Cadillac DPi-VR – Spirit of Daytona, Tristan Vautier and Matt McMurry had no success with a gearbox problem.

In GTD, the Acura NSX GT3s of Meyer Shank Racing scored a double with the #86 of Katherine Legge – Mario Farnbacher and #93 of Justin Marks – Lawson Aschenbach, notably choosing to use only two tires during their stop.

The two NSXs precede the #3 Lamborghini Huracan GT48 – Paul Miller Racing of Bryan Sellers – Madison Snow which started from pole before losing its advantage following the strategy of Meyer Shank Racing.
