Acura and Corvette triumph at Mid-Ohio

The seventh of 11 rounds on the program for the 2020 seasonIMSA SportsCar Championship ended a few minutes ago at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Dominated by the sister car in qualifying, the No. 7 Acura did not tremble despite a final Full Course Yellow 37 minutes from the goal.

The ARX-05 entrusted to Ricky Taylor and Helio Castroneves passed under the checkerboard with a lead of 0” over the No. 6 Action Express Racing Cadillac DPi-VR at the wheel of which we find Pipo Derani and Felipe Nasr. The American-Brazilian duo offers their third success in a row and continues to move up in the general rankings.

On the third step of the podium, we find the Renger van der Zande-Ryan Briscoe pair, still leading the championship. The No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac took advantage of Juan Pablo Montoya's spin (No. 05 Acura ARX-6) six minutes from the finish.

The top five is completed by the two Mazda RT24-Ps – the No. 55 (Bomarito-Tincknell) and the No. 77 (Jarvis-Nunez) – although they are not very lively today, while the DPi-VR no. 5 of JDC-Miller Motorsports shared by Sébastien Bourdais and Joao Barbosa only finished 6th, his worst result this season.

Finally, in GTD, the AIM Team Vasser Sullivan won its fourth victory in 2020 thanks to the No. 3 Lexus RC F GT14 of Jake Hawksworth-Aaron Telitz, which preceded the finish by 0 and 858 respectively. Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°74 from Riley Motorsports (G. Robinson-L. Aschenbach) and the Porsche 911 GT3 n°16 from Wright Motorsports (R. Hardwick-P. Long).

The next round, scheduled for October 9 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, will be reserved for the GTLMs and GTDs, who will then meet the DPi and LM P2s the following week on the Road Atlanta circuit, for the 2020 edition of the Petit Le Mans.
