Things move fast in motorsport. Shortly before the resumption of the World Endurance Championship at Imola, rumors circulated about Honda's desire to enter the World Championship.Endurance and 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2027 with the Polish team Inter Europol Competition. The situation seems to have evolved well, but not in the expected direction.
So, according to information from our colleagues at Ouest-FranceAcura is expected to end its endurance racing program at the end of the current season. This information can be confirmed based on inside sources within the paddock of the 6 Hours of Imola, the opening round of the 2026 season. WEC.
From what we understand, the Japanese brand has been considering its situation in Endurance racing for some time. The disappointing results of the 2025 season in IMSA (two podium finishes, one victory) would not have worked in the program's favor, just like the total fiasco of the association with Aston Martin en Formula 1which would require a significant financial effort to try to salvage the situation.
The American media outlet RACER also examined the issue in Long Beach, where the third IMSA race is taking place and where, ironically, Acura emerged victorious. We have not made any decisions regarding our 2027 program., a brand representative told the transatlantic media on Thursday. Once the decision has been made, it will be communicated. »
Acura's departure would be all the more damaging to the North American endurance championship given another rumor suggesting a potential withdrawal of Porsche at the end of the 2026 financial year.

Not surprised. In IMSA and WEC there are too many competitors but only ONE winner. And those who lose leave; the economic crisis is a convenient excuse.
