ALMS – BMW presents the Z4 GTE at Daytona

Two BMW Z4 GTEs will take part in the ALMS championship this season, fielded by Rahal Letterman Lannigan (RLL). At the wheel of the No. 55 we will find the young Belgian Maxime Martin, new to the series, and the American Bill Auberlen. The No. 56 car will be driven by German Dirk Müller, who will be assisted by either Joey Hand or John Edwards. Edwards replacing Hand in clashes between races DTM and ALMS. Note also that Jörg Müller and Uwe Alzen will respectively complete the crews of the No. 55 and 56 during the long races of Sebring and Road Atlanta.

For his part, Jens Marquardt, director of BMW Motorsport, seems particularly confident in the performance of his cars: “Everyone at BMW Motorsport and Team RLL is very curious to see how the first races will go with the new Z4 GTE. We are heading into a year of development, but we are very confident that we have, once again, developed a car capable of winning races and titles, in the form of a Z4 GTE. Looking at our drivers today, I can tell you that they are looking forward to being back at Sebring. »

“Obviously, I am very happy to enter this new year with the GTE BMW Z4, continues team principal Bobby Rahal. There is a lot of enthusiasm in the team around the new car. Certainly, there will be a period of development, but ultimately, I don't see why we couldn't be competitive with the great competition that reigns in the GT category in ALMS. »
